Samaipata E

Bolivien - Samaipata

Bolivia was a big surprise: a wounderful country, still authentic, not so many tourists. That does not mean that we met a lot of strangers living there.

Bolivia is a cheap country to travel: the prices for transport, food and lodging are the most cheapest of all the countries we visited in South america.
Transport and banks work very well. English is spoken directly in Samaipata, but you should speak Spanish ( or have at least an idea to speak Spanish), better Amara too. :))
The fair is full of vegetables and fruits. You also can eat directly at the market. We had good experiences and never problems with our stomaches.
Samaipata is easy to reach by public bus from Santa Cruz. It lies high in the mountains, so you have cool nights and warm to hot days.

Samaipata itself is a nice village with hostels and some more expensive hotels. There are a lot of tourist buros that offer you different tours:

  • to the national park nearby to sit next to condors.
  • to the scene of Che Guevaras
  • walking tours to the ruins
  • walking tours to waterfalls and more.
Well, all tours have their price... But you can organize tours yourself, too.
In Samaipata everything seems to grow:
