As you can see in the pictures, the city is located in the mountains, with the view to an active volcano. A paradise for hikers and climbers, but also for ones who like hot springs. One of the spa is in the city, the other a bit more descrete on the river.
Banos is well known by tourists and therefore the city has all accomodations for them they want: hotels, hostels, restaurants, shops, souvenirs. Well, and the prices are for tourists, too.
You can hire a bike, a car, a tour or / and go to one of the travel buros to ask for tours. Many things you can do by yourself, too by public transport.

We enjoyed our trip to Rio Verde. Using the public bus to Ambato you reach Rio Cutuchi in about 40 minutes. You have to pay entrance fee and then you can go down until the waterfall and climb it up. An adventure! Nothing for high heels :))
